Babymurph's 1st picture
The ultrasound was quick, but the tech was able to give us a couple of pictures and sealed up the picture of the sex in an envelope for us to open on Saturday for Shaun's birthday. Shaun and I had each switched what we thought by the time the ultrasound was over. Now he thinks it's a girl and I think it's a boy. I can't believe we're going to find out soon! Here is out baby's first picture.

19 weeks and babymurph's first pic's!
Today we get to see babymurph for the very first time. Yes, we had an ultrasound at 8 weeks, but it was at the ER and the tech told us she wasn't allowed to show us anything, even though she did turn the screen our way for just a second to reassure me. Today we will see babymurph for hopefully a LONG time! Since this ultrasound is when they do all kinds of important measurements it usually takes 30 minutes to an hour....I'm hoping we're able to see him/her for an hour :)Your baby's sensory development is exploding! Her brain is designating specialized areas for smell, taste, hearing, vision, and touch. Some research suggests that she may be able to hear your voice now, so don't be shy about reading aloud, talking to her, or singing a happy tune if the mood strikes you.
Your baby weighs about 8 1/2 ounces and measures 6 inches, head to bottom — about the size of a large heirloom tomato. Her arms and legs are in the right proportions to each other and the rest of her body now. Her kidneys continue to make urine and the hair on her scalp is sprouting. A waxy protective coating called the vernix caseosa is forming on her skin to prevent it from pickling in the amniotic fluid.
I gave up on my bikini artistry and resorted to the easier censor box. I still don't get why cartoon nakedness bothers me for my blog, but it does for whatever reason.
Hopefully I'll be able to post the pictures of babymurph later this evening. I'm so excited I think I might actually vomit!

18 weeks! One week till our 1st real ultrasound!
18 weeks and feeling huge, even though after seeing this picture I decided I'm not that much bigger than last week. I've been feeling so much movement from this little ninja. Shaun even felt his first kick almost a week ago. He's been a little too impatient to feel it again, I think we got lucky that he touched my belly at the exact right moment to get drop kicked by babymurph.
I take that back. I had someone take this picture and hour later because the first was so blurry and I look humongous compared to last week
I am fascinated by the pictures on babyzone.com and have wanted to posted one, but feel uncomfortable posting a cartoon naked pregnant lady for some reason. So I've drawn a half-assed bikini to feel more comfortable posting the picture of how big the baby is. How your baby's growing:Head to rump, your baby is about 5 1/2 inches long (about the length of a bell pepper) and he weighs almost 7 ounces. He's busy flexing his arms and legs — movements that you'll start noticing more and more in the weeks ahead. His blood vessels are visible through his thin skin, and his ears are now in their final position, although they're still standing out from his head a bit. A protective covering of myelin is beginning to form around his nerves, a process that will continue for a year after he's born. If you're having a girl, her uterus and fallopian tubes are formed and in place. If you're having a boy, his genitals are noticeable now, but he may hide them from you during an ultrasound.
Also, one of my tickers changed today, which I was surprised and thrilled to see this morning.
I keep having this feeling that babymurph is a girl, so I can't wait till next Thursday when we hopefully find out whether we're having a little boy or a little girl.

17 weeks
I'm 17 weeks and have another dr's appointment today. It's the same routine now until my bi-monthly appointments start up in the third trimester. Sign in, pee in a cup, blood pressure check, listen to the heartbeat, measure uterus and ask any questions I might have.
Around this time your baby's ears pop from his head and Baby-to-be can now sense sounds. After all, he has plenty to listen to in utero! He's accustomed to the strong beating of your heart, blood rushing through your veins, and your stomach grumbling. He can also discern sounds outside the uterus, like your voice and music. Although, according to the Mayo Clinic, whether he can distinguish the sound of your voice versus other sounds is not yet clear.
We also got our first order in for cloth diapering items. I ordered two cloth diaper covers to put over prefold diapers or fitted diapers and of course since we don't have an actual baby yet we had to try them on Gadget.
This is her "I am completely miserable face"
and this is my "I'm trying not to pee myself" face.

Wall Art
I love etsy.com. It's my favorite place for decorating ideas and handmade items, and now that we're planning the nursery I love it even more. I'd like to have Shaun recreate something similar to this by kachingdesign.
I'd like to do it in more neutral colors and not as large to frame in the nursery.
Instead of wall letters for the name, which seem to be all the rage I'd like to do something like this
by nameframes. I love the way the way it looks and the frame can be used for pictures of the family later.

"The Creation of Baby"
I shall call my 16 week picture "The Creation of Baby" since I'm being earpoked by the finger of God. I asked a co-worker of mine to take my 16 week belly pic today and when I finally got a chance to look at it I realized that I was being touched by the hand of God. That funniest part was that she had no idea what I was talking about when I called her laughing about it.
In the coming weeks you should start to feel your baby move. You'll only feel a flutter at first, but before long you'll be able to distinguish kicks and hiccups, too. As your baby-to-be gets bigger, expect more soreness in your abdomen and back. Your breasts may also feel sore and larger as the tissue fills in and readies for milk production. As pregnancy hormones continue to pulse through your system to direct your body in baby production, you may experience headaches, dizziness, and even mood changes.
By week 16, your baby-to-be's body is doing more to support itself. Her kidneys function and produce urine that then passes through the umbilical cord. Within her stomach, bile is secreted, although she relies on you for all of her nutrients. Her appearance changes as her scalp hair grows and may even have color. Her developing facial muscles make it possible for her to open and close her mouth, maybe even give you a smile or two. She's about the size of an avocado and weighs about 3 ounces.
